They’ve got to, think before they get me<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They escape into you, your beat, your flow…<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Me? I’m what they’ll never truly know<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Words are my existence<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For you, they’re just tools<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They define my reasons, my why…<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They make all the rules<\/p>\n\n\n\n
You see, I used to be as stone<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But now…<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I hurt and I feel,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And I feel,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And I feel… sensitive<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They move, bump, and sway to you,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But they have to feel me<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They call you dope,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But after a dose of me, they need dope<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Just to rise out of their beds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It’s all twisted here<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My truths manifest as your lies<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There is no remix, there’s only me<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My future, cut off like a vasectomy<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Raps can be remixed<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But poems stand solitary, in a way, free<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We’re different…<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Can you dig it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Can you see it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
You take a word and make it a slave<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But to that same word, I am enslaved<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Faithful to the verse, I exist unrehearsed<\/p>\n\n\n\n
You’re a crowd pleaser, an hors-d’oeuvre, a teaser<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They ingest you and long for more…<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But I’m too much, too deep, too real, too filling<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I am your truth, the truth of who you are behind the facade<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I am poetry<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And when you\u2019re honest, I’m your pain, your sadness, and all of your madness…<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Do you recognize me?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I’m behind your anger and all of your vain<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Vulnerable, soft, and wildly insane,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I am the raw face, the truth, and the heart’s beat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
You are rap, the face beat, the coverup, the one afraid… to be truly seen<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I am your source<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The blood that flows<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I am poetry<\/p>\n\n\n\n
You’re just a representative<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Attractive, but ultimately, not real.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
